Ms. Johnson-Norris began her legal career on the front lines of the justice system as a Deputy Public Defender in Orange County. This foundational experience gave her a unique, intuitive understanding of how the criminal justice and child welfare systems overlap, and how a singular allegation can trigger parallel, life-altering consequences across multiple courtrooms.

Her own educational background is rooted in elite advocacy. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she received the prestigious Archie A. Gorfinkle Award for the most outstanding graduate entering the field of criminal defense. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Pitzer College and is a graduate of Gerry Spence’s renowned Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming.
To better serve families in dependency court, she also earned a Parent Education Certificate from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). This credential provides her with a deep understanding of psychological and developmental dynamics, offering her unique leverage when cross-examining social workers and formulating effective reunification plans.
A native of Southern California, Ms. Johnson-Norris is deeply dedicated to public service. She currently serves as the Chair on the Orange County Human Relations Commission, a role to which she was appointed in 2023 to address civil rights, hate crimes, and community welfare. Previously, she served as the Chair of the Irvine Community Services Commission, the Chair of the Irvine Children Youth and Families Advisory Committee, and as an Irvine Finance Commissioner.
Within the legal community, she is the Past-President of the South Orange County Bar Association, sat on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Women Lawyers Association, and serves as a Volunteer Arbitrator for the Orange County Bar Association.
