Lauren Johnson-Norris interviewed on KNX News 97.1 FM about the #asaprocky verdict
[Speaker 1]
Rapper and fashion designer A$AP Rocky no longer has the threat of prison time hanging over his head. A jury in LA yesterday found him not guilty of shooting a gun at his former friend during a scuffle in 2021. Irvine-based criminal defense attorney Lauren Johnson Norris says the jurors got it right.
[Speaker 2]
This was a weak case and the prosecutor didn't have a gun to present to the jurors on their theory that an actual gun was used. They had a witness who was defensive and argumentative on the stand who also had a civil lawsuit pending against A$AP Rocky. And they faced, you know, the challenge that this could have been a self-defense case and that a real gun wasn't even used.
So, I think they got it right. This was definitely a not guilty verdict waiting to happen.
[Speaker 1]
The witness she's talking about is A$AP Relly. He claimed A$AP Rocky shot at him twice, grazed his knuckle. Now, Rocky hugged Rihanna when his verdict was read in the courtroom.
They have been together for several years. They got two kids together. And you can see A$AP Rocky this summer in a Spike Lee movie with Denzel Washington called Highest to Lowest.
