Many clients contact my office at the earliest stages of a juvenile dependency investigation. That is what I always recommend. At the beginning of a juvenile dependency investigation, a social worker may have an accusation against a parent or a caretaker or a relative, but they may not have any other information.

They are charged under the law with investigating, and that means talking to the child as well as the parents. I work very closely with parents to help prepare them for those interviews. By counseling them and making sure that we really understand the facts and the dynamics of the family, I help many clients stop a juvenile dependency investigation in its tracks.
