Detention Hearing
Approximately two days after the children are removed from the home, parents have the opportunity to go to court and learn what they're accused of in terms of abuse or neglect. Parents also have the opportunity to object to the children remaining out of home. The court will inquire to find out who the parents are, including paternity, who the father is.
The court will then look at a social worker report to determine whether or not, based on the accusations alone, if there are reasons to keep the children out of the home. If the children do remain out of home, the court will order visitation for the parents.
